Rebates come from your utility and the air district, not from us. We help you find the ones your home qualifies for, then prepare the photos, model numbers and permit paperwork each program asks for, so you can apply with confidence.
How we help with the paperwork
Check what fits
At your free estimate we confirm your utility, how your home is heated today and which equipment qualifies.
Install it right
Qualifying ENERGY STAR equipment, with the permit pulled and finaled and HERS verification where required.
Prepare the documents
Itemized invoice, permit final, AHRI certificate, model and serial numbers, and photos of the old and new equipment.
Apply and get paid
You submit the application online, and our office can walk you through it. The program reviews it and pays the rebate.
Who is your utility?
Anaheim Public Utilities rebates: $200 per ton
- Your electricity comes from Anaheim Public Utilities (Anaheim and Anaheim Hills).
- AC, heat pump and mini-split: minimum 14.3 SEER2 (or 15+ SEER), replacing an existing heating or cooling system.
- Duct repair: the home already has a central electric heating or cooling system.
South Coast AQMD GO ZERO rebate
- Your home is in the South Coast AQMD area (all of Orange County and most of LA County).
- The new ENERGY STAR heat pump replaces a gas or propane furnace. A heat pump that only replaces an AC does not qualify.
- Installed on or after September 4, 2026, with a finaled permit.
- One heat pump rebate per home.
SoCalGas high-efficiency furnace rebate
- ENERGY STAR natural gas furnace rated 92% AFUE or higher. Our 96% furnaces qualify for the $10 tier; 80% furnaces do not qualify.
- Installed by a licensed contractor, with proof the permit was closed.
- An existing home (not new construction), bought and installed in the same calendar year. One per household.

Rebate Questions
Do you apply for the rebate for me?
For these programs the homeowner applies, usually online after the installation. We prepare every document the application asks for and our office can walk you through it.
Can I combine rebates?
Often, yes. For example, a 3-ton heat pump that replaces a gas furnace in Anaheim can get $600 from Anaheim Public Utilities plus $1,000 from GO ZERO. Each program sets its own rules, so we check them before your estimate.
How long does a rebate take to arrive?
It depends on the program. SoCalGas says 6–8 weeks after an approved application. Other programs pay after they review your documents and the final permit.
Why do you need a permit for a rebate?
Most programs, including GO ZERO and SoCalGas, require a finaled permit to pay. We pull and final the permit on every installation.
Is there a rebate for a new air conditioner in Orange County?
In most SCE areas, not right now. Anaheim Public Utilities customers get $200 per ton for a central AC rated 14.3 SEER2 or higher, and Pasadena Water and Power pays a per-ton rebate too. If your home has a gas furnace, a heat pump cools like an AC and can qualify for GO ZERO.
How much is the SoCalGas furnace rebate?
SoCalGas pays per kBTUh of furnace size: $1.40 for 92–94% AFUE, $10 for 95–96% and $25 for 97% or higher. For an 80,000 BTU furnace at 96% that is about $800. 80% furnaces do not qualify. Funds last until December 31, 2026 or until they run out.
Does a ductless mini-split qualify for a rebate?
Yes, in two cases. GO ZERO pays $500 for a mini-split under 3 tons when it replaces a gas or propane furnace, and Anaheim Public Utilities pays $200 per ton for a qualifying ductless mini-split heat pump.
Do I apply before or after the installation?
For most programs you apply after the installation, with the invoice, model numbers and permit final we give you. City of Irvine One Irvine is the exception: the city must approve you before work starts.
Can rebate amounts change?
Yes. Programs can change their amounts or run out of funds. The amounts on this page were checked in November 2026, and we confirm what is open when we quote your system.
About these programs
The rebates and incentives on this page are offered and run by the utilities, the air district and the cities named, not by Smartchoice. Smartchoice is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting on behalf of these programs, except that we are a participating contractor where this page says so. Each program sets its own amounts, rules and funding, which can change or end without notice; we summarize them here as published on the date shown. Each program decides who qualifies and how much it pays, so we cannot guarantee approval or a rebate amount. Your price with us does not depend on a rebate unless your written contract says so. Please check the official program page linked in each section before you apply.
